Curriculum

Math

This year we are using Eureka Squared and will be working through Modules 1 through 6. Each student has a 'Learn' workbook which will be used for class work, and an 'Apply' workbook which will consist of the student's nightly homework.

English Language Arts

Literature - Each quarter we will go through different literature books that are based on the time period we will concurrently be learning about in History.

  • Quarter 1: Pedro's Journal and Pasquala

  • Quarter 2: Pocahontas, Squanto, The Courage of Sarah Noble

  • Quarter 3: Phoebe the Spy, The Secret Soldier, and

Lewis and Clark and Me

  • Quarter 4: Sarah, Plain and Tall, American Tall Tales,

and Island of the Blue Dolphins

Grammar - This year we will be working through our Easy Grammar Grade 3 workbook. Each quarter will have a different focus and students will be tested accordingly.

  • Quarter 1- Types of Sentences, Nouns, Verbs Part 1

  • Quarter 2- Verbs Part 2, Subject/ Verb, Conjunctions, Prepositions

  • Quarter 3- Adjectives, Adverbs, Interjections

  • Quarter 4- Pronouns, Compounds, Direct Objects, Punctuation, Capitalization

History

For history this year we will be learning about the 1400s to 1848 (Early Modern).

Geography

  • Quarter 1 through 3 we learn about Geography Map Skills

  • Quarter 2 we learn the eastern border U.S. states and capitals

  • Quarter 3 we learn the northern and southern border U.S. states and capitals

  • Quarter 4 we learn all 50 US states and capitals

Science

For science this year we will be utilizing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) through the FOSS program. We will begin the year by focusing on the Structures of Life, transition into Water and Climate, and end the year learning about Motion and Matter.
